What we can do to respond to war on Iraq

Our thoughts and prayers are with those who pay the human price of war.

Now through March 23 - health kits

Several area churches and many individuals are gathering health kits for Iraqi refugees. Only a few days left to collect materials for the local shipment. Details on this nationwide American Friends Service Committee project.

Ongoing - phone cards for service families

Students in the Future Family, Career, and Community Leaders Club at Rockbridge County High School are collecting phone cards to help families stay in touch with mobilized military and National Guard members. Cards should be sent to the club at RCHS, 1972 Big Spring Dr., Lexington, VA 24450, care of faculty advisor Robyn Sherman. Please support our troops and their families. Another way to provide phone cards is through Operation Uplink.

Thursday, March 20 = weekly vigil

Gather at 5:00 p.m. in front of the courthouse in Lexington, Main St. at Washington.

Saturday-Monday, March 22-24, 2003 - veterans' teach-in, demo, and lobbying in DC

Rockbridge Response to War on Iraq is a network of people in the Rockbridge County, Virginia area. Formed at a community meeting early in January 2003, we are active in many ways: letter writing, lobbying, vigils and demonstrations to oppose the war, as well as providing support to families of local servicemembers, humanitarian aid to Iraqi civilians, and facilitating discussion and study groups. To find out more and get involved, call Nell Lancaster at 540-463-2394, or email nlancaster@rockbridge.net
